Chapel Hill Homeschoolers was looking for a complete update to their website. Not only did they want something more modern, they also wanted a private forum with members-only access. They were very concerned with promoting a strong sense of diversity, and wanted to make sure their site was inviting and informative to the variety of homeschoolers in Chapel Hill and surrounding areas. They wanted a calendar with their activities and a place to list their Friday Enrichment classes.
This was a ground up build. I started by redesigning their logo. I incorporated educational imagery that promoted STEM and literacy. The website grew from there. A lot of the content was provided to me, but I did encourage them to write some history of the group which they enjoyed. The original website included a list of local groups that desperately needed updating so I spent some time researching the recent active groups. I also updated the Homeschool 101 section to include the most recent statistics for homeschooling. These sections took quite a bit of copywriting. I was able to create a private members-only forum that the leaders of Chapel Hill Homeschoolers could manage and control entirely, as well as a public calendar for all of their activities.
